When buying a laptop, the first question to ask yourself is what you will be using the laptop for. If you are a student and just buying a laptop for doing assignments and watching movies, you don't really need a laptop with high specifications but if you intend to use your laptop for office work and are going be installing complex softwares, it is very recommended you choose one with good specs to enable you to work smoothly. Consider the following specs while purchasing a laptop;

The RAM

Random Access Memory is the memory where the computer copies softwares for execution. Complex softwares take up more memory compared to simple softwares. If you intend to use your laptop for simple tasks, a Ram of 2gb or higher is ok with you. However, if your office work involves using softwares that are complex, get yourself a laptop of not less than 4gb of Ram space.

 Hard disk space.

The hard disk space is used to store files and folders on your laptop. If you are going to be dealing with projects that require a lot of space, get a laptop that has more space. If you are a student and using your laptop for simple tasks like storing assignments and small files, a memory of 500gb is good for you. Purchase a 1tb or above if you are going to deal with large projects.

The processor speed.

The processor speed determines the speed at which your laptop will process tasks. A high speed means shorter time of carrying tasks. Processor technologies that improve the processor speeds change from time to time so research first about the current best processor technology and buy a laptop of the same or close type.

Webcam capability

If a laptop is to be used for official work, consider one with webcam. This will be used for attending online meetings or video calling business partners. If you don't intend to make video calls or participate in online meetings, you can go for one without a webcam.

 Wi-fi and bluetooth support.

Make sure that the laptop you are buying has wi-fi support so that you may connect to Wi-fi hotspots and bluetooth support for sharing files.
