This article focuses on how to become a web developer and get remote web development jobs. Web developers are experts who develop and maintain websites. If you are wondering whether its possible to become a web developer without any college certificate, the truth is that it is very possible and I’m here to show you just how.
Many competent web developers would agree with me that almost 80 percent of the skills they are using in their job were not acquired in college but through online resources. There are very many tutorials on the internet and video tutorials on the YouTube which are demonstrating step by step guides on how to work with the different languages used in web development. To make it even better, there are websites like www.stackoverflow.com which offer solutions to coding related problems. As I hinted earlier, we will look at how to become a web developer and specifically a fullstack web developer. Fullstack web developer are competent in both the frontend and backend development. I know the most confusing part about becoming a Fullstack developer without a degree would be figuring out where to start. Start by learning the frontend languages which are html, CSS and JavaScript among other frameworks. Let’s define these terms before we go far. Hypertext markup language (html) is the language used to define the structure of the webpages while Css is used to style the html elements and position them where they are supposed to be. JavaScript is used to make things fancier by giving the elements dynamic behaviour. To understand how these languages work together, think of them as tools for building and furnishing a house where html would be used for laying the structure and the roof, css for painting the house and JavaScript for furnishing the house.
The other language you need to learn is a backend language. A backend language is used to make requests to the server. Examples of backend languages are php, java, and python. You will also need to learn database Management Systems. DBMS are used for creating databases that are used for data storage. Example of database Management Systems are MySQL and Postgresql. W3schools.com is a good website where you can start to learn the above languages and databases. The website demonstrates vividly how to work with any of the languages and others that I have not mentioned. Visit w3schools.com and select the language you want to go through on the menu by clicking it. There are other websites also like tutorialspoint.com and javatpoint.com which are equally helpful.
Youtube.com is a good source of video tutorials on web development. Visit the website and type the language of your interest on the search bar then click search. You will see the variety of videos available for that language listed. Click on them and go through them one after another.
