The Kenya Revenue Authority assigns a unique number to every Kenyan who is eligible to pay taxes called a KRA Pin (Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number). For you to get the number, you have to register for a Kra Pin certificate on the Kra portal.

Below are some services that will require you to have a Pin certificate:

When opening a bank account- one of the requirements when opening a bank account in Kenyan banks is a Pin certificate. You will therefore need to register for a Pin certificate before you visit the bank for the account opening process.

When enrolling in a driving school- if you are enrolling in driving school, you definitely need a kra Pin as it will be crucial in opening a Tims account. The Tims account is where you will apply for your PDL Slip and Book the driving test.

If you are applying for a driver PSV license, conductor PSV license, doing a motor vehicle search or doing a driving license search.
